A railway bridge under construction in Qinghai province, China, collapsed in the early hours of Friday, killing at least 12 workers and leaving four others missing, according to state media.
The incident happened around 3 a.m. during a cable-tensioning procedure, when a steel support suddenly failed, bringing down part of the structure. Sixteen workers were on the site at the time.

The bridge was part of the Sichuan–Qinghai Railway project. Aerial images show a large section of its curved aquamarine arch destroyed, while a segment of the deck, usually suspended some 55 meters above the Yellow River, hangs broken and twisted.
Search efforts are ongoing, with more than 800 personnel, 91 vehicles, 27 boats, a helicopter, and several robotic devices deployed to locate the missing, reports China Daily.
