The Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv on Thursday advised Indian nationals to refrain from non-essential travel to Israel and urged those already in the country to remain alert and follow local safety instructions. The advisory was issued against the backdrop of rising tensions in the Middle East and ongoing protests in Iran targeting the leadership of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

In a related move a day earlier, the Indian government had asked its citizens currently in Iran to leave the country using available options and cautioned against travel to Iran. Indian authorities have also begun preparations for a possible evacuation of nationals from Iran, citing the deteriorating security situation.

In its statement, the embassy in Israel called on Indian citizens to remain vigilant and to strictly comply with safety guidelines issued by Israeli authorities and the Home Front Command.

Regional tensions have intensified following warnings by US President Donald Trump of potential military action if protesters in Iran are harmed. In response, Tehran stated that US military bases in the region would be considered legitimate targets should the United States launch an attack.

The situation has also raised security concerns in Israel, a longstanding regional rival of Iran. According to local media reports, several areas in southern and central Israel have ordered the opening of public shelters as a precautionary measure. Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency reported that the mayor of Dimona in southern Israel instructed authorities to open shelters across the city, citing the need for preparedness.

Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy in Iran has separately advised Indian nationals and persons of Indian origin to exercise caution, avoid areas where protests or demonstrations are taking place, remain in contact with the embassy, and follow local media for updates on the evolving situation.
