Musician Lindsey Buckingham, best known as the former lead guitarist and co-vocalist of Fleetwood Mac, was reportedly the target of an incident in Santa Monica involving a woman suspected of stalking, according to authorities on Wednesday.

The episode occurred as Buckingham arrived for a scheduled appointment. Law enforcement officials stated that a woman allegedly threw an unidentified substance at him as he entered a building. No injuries have been publicly reported.

Officials indicated that no arrests have been made so far, though they anticipate potential action once the investigation is complete. Authorities also noted that the suspect is believed to have had prior interactions with Buckingham and may have obtained information about his schedule in advance.

Buckingham, 76, joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975 and contributed to many of the band’s most recognizable songs, including “Go Your Own Way” and “Tusk.” During his tenure, the group earned multiple Grammy Awards. He later launched a solo career in the early 1980s.

In recent years, Buckingham has continued to speak publicly about his departure from Fleetwood Mac. In a 2021 interview, he attributed his exit to disagreements with fellow band member Stevie Nicks and former manager Irving Azoff.

Buckingham stated that tensions escalated over scheduling conflicts, particularly regarding his plans to promote solo work. He claimed that Nicks presented an ultimatum regarding his involvement in the band’s tour.

Drawing a comparison to other high-profile musical partnerships, Buckingham suggested the situation resembled a scenario in which one key member forces a choice between collaborators, ultimately leading to his removal. He also expressed the view that internal dynamics within the band were shifting in a direction more aligned with Nicks’ artistic vision.
