One person has died and three others have been injured following a collision involving a double-decker bus and pedestrians in Dublin city centre on Tuesday.

The incident occurred shortly after 12:30 p.m. on North Earl Street, a pedestrianised area near the junction of Talbot Street and Marlborough Street. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, which is being treated as a road traffic collision.

Ireland’s Justice Minister confirmed the fatality and injuries during a statement to the national parliament, noting that the injured individuals were taken to hospital for treatment. No further details on their conditions were immediately available.

Photographs from the area showed a police cordon in place and a forensic tent erected at the crash site. The front window of the bus appeared damaged.

Bus Éireann confirmed that one of its vehicles was involved in the incident but said the bus was not in service at the time.

Dublin Fire Brigade reported that it received calls about a collision involving a bus and pedestrians and deployed significant emergency resources, including more than 20 firefighter-paramedics, multiple fire engines, ambulances, and specialist rescue vehicles. The National Ambulance Service also attended the scene.

Several public officials expressed condolences to those affected. The Justice Minister said his thoughts were with the family of the deceased and those injured, while Dublin’s Lord Mayor and opposition political leaders also acknowledged the incident and praised the emergency response.

As a result of the collision, Luas Green Line tram services were suspended between Parnell Street and St Stephen’s Green. Members of the public were advised to avoid the area while emergency and investigative work continued.

Authorities have not released further information on the circumstances of the crash, and inquiries are ongoing.
