Authorities are investigating the deaths of two individuals discovered in a camper van shortly after attending a cider festival in the New Forest.
Paramedics responding to a call on 12 October located the stationary vehicle on Pound Lane, Burley, where they found the bodies of a 38-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man, both residents of Blandford Forum, Dorset.
According to Hampshire Constabulary, the emergency services were first alerted by South Central Ambulance Service, which reported the “unexpected death of two people inside a parked camper van.” Police officers later attended the scene, and a report is being prepared for the coroner. The next of kin have been informed.

A spokesperson for New Forest Cider confirmed that the deceased had attended its craft cider festival over the weekend. The representative expressed condolences to the victims’ families, emphasizing that the tragedy occurred in a private vehicle and was not linked to the festival itself.
They added:
“Our thoughts and condolences are with their family and friends at this very difficult time. The police have confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances, and we are co-operating fully with their inquiries.”
While official details remain limited, police have stated that there is no evidence of foul play. The cause of death is expected to be determined following the coroner’s investigation.
This report highlights a tragic incident tangentially connected to a public event, underscoring how authorities and organizers manage public communication in the aftermath of unexpected deaths. The swift clarification that the incident was “not connected” to the festival reflects an attempt to protect the event’s reputation while balancing transparency. The absence of suspicious circumstances also frames the case as an unfortunate but non-criminal event, pending coroner confirmation.
