A tragic road accident in Mullion, Cornwall, claimed the lives of 31-year-old Sian Goffin and her one-year-old son, Jago Bawden, after their car collided with a double-decker bus. The collision, which happened on 14 October last year, also left 27 schoolchildren injured.

An inquest at Cornwall Coroner’s Court revealed that Ms Goffin had taken cocaine prior to the crash and subsequently lost control of her vehicle on the B3296 Meaver Road. Both she and her son, who was seated in the front passenger seat, suffered severe head injuries. Ms Goffin died at Derriford Hospital on 16 October, while Jago succumbed to his injuries three days later at Bristol Children’s Hospital.

Post-mortem examinations confirmed both victims died from traumatic brain injuries. Assistant Coroner Guy Davies concluded that the crash was caused by driver error, directly linked to Ms Goffin’s impairment from cocaine use.

Friends and family described Ms Goffin, a mother of two, as loving, loyal, and deeply cherished. Heartfelt online tributes remembered her as a devoted parent, sister, and friend, with loved ones expressing shock and devastation over her sudden passing. Many mentioned that she had “grown her wings” and was now “at peace” alongside her late mother.
